Task
Deploy Cloudflare Bot Management WAF Rule templates.
Why
- Blocks automated attacks that drain resources and revenue through credential stuffing, scalping, and content scraping
- Assigns each request a bot score using ML across 25M Internet properties, accurately distinguishing good bots from malicious ones
- Deploys instantly via WAF rule templates like "Define Bots" and "Likely Bots" - just enable and set a response action
Steps
1. Deploy template rule for definite bots
In the Cloudflare Dashboard go to Security ‣ Security rules ‣ Templates.

Under Rules template search for templates with "bots" and select Mitigate definite bot traffic template by clicking Preview template.

This will bring you into the familiar Custom rules dialog with a ready made rule!
Leave the rule as default, however so as not to impact other exercises, limit it to a non-existing path:
- For the last URI Path criteria...
- Set the Operator to contains
- Set the Value to /hellobots
- Set the Action to Block with default values
You configuration should look something like this:
